You are in GREAT hands with Dr. Chang. He is the best of the best. There is another lady on this board, Alisa, who has been seeing him for over 9 years for IIIa NSCLC. She too is NED. In answer to your question, Dr. Chang is well informed on all fronts and quite frankly the only doctor whose opinion I trust when it comes to supplements. And if he is ever unsure of something, he will research the answer … I also take many other supplements, all either prescribed or approved by Dr. Chang … I am not on any type of chemo and everyone’s situation and cancer are a bit different, but I do know for a fact that Dr. Chang was … at MSK for many years before going into private practice in NYC … As long as he has your complete file and knows exactly what you are getting in terms of other care and treatment, as his motto is “first do no harm”, you will be getting well informed, researched and top notch care. He also does not ever push you into taking any type of treatment, because he respects the patient enough to just let them decide for themselves…he will simply give you your options of treatment and respect your wishes with grace. He has a deep and spiritual respect for mankind and for life. As for how your primary might react… does it matter???? If your primary oncologist feels threatened by the well informed suggestions of another WORLD renowned specialist involved in your treatment – RUN away as fast as you can … this is your LIFE and there is no room in the picture for the feelings of an insecure oncologist. Most oncologist will tell you to take nothing during chemo because they do not know any better. (I will leave it at that). And the majority of us die. (I will leave that alone as well)

Last week me and my hubby had our first appointment with dr. Raymond Chang ( integrative and complementary naturopathic medicine)
He impressed us as an open minded and resourceful doctor. His philosophy of attacking cancer simultaneously from all possible angles (depriving it from food and blood supply, killing its cells, stopping it from producing more cells etc.) went well with us …

I work with an excellent CAM doctor who worked with my oncologist. Dr. Raymond Chang at http://www.meridianmedical.org. He treats with Traditional Chinese Medicine, herbs, vitamins, and many other procedures you can read about on his website. He also is a Western doctor, so he is very integrative and not at all alternative. It’s good you seeked a doctor. Too many take supplements without knowing. Some are good for this cancer, and not that. Some are ok with chemo and some not. Etc. etc. So the important thing (to me) is to not go it alone but seek a professional, like you did, and then take what your doctors tell you and read up a little on your own. Too much research can make you crazy, so you do have to trust your drs., but I think some research is good.
